Eperon d'Or national shoe- and brush museum
Eperon d'Or is a symbol of the booming footwear industry on the industrial inheritance site of Izegem. The protected monument from the art deco period is being renovated into the national shoe-and brush museum. The monument, supplemented by a new volume on and next to the existing building includes museum rooms, a bar with dining facilities, office functions and a multi functional hall.
This redevelopment was designed with a great deal of attention to the integration of modern comfort in an art deco building. Intense consultation with various parties, inheritance, architects, the constructor and the museum designer led to a coherent setting. The entire project is equipped with mechanical ventilation, heating and freecooling principles, in a respectful way of the building as a monument and as a museum. It radiates simplicity as a result of complex questions and detailed work.
